Optimus Prime vs Megatron HD Transformers The Movie 1986: Media review

First the camera starts off on the bottom giving a view of Optimus and a couple of other Autobot’s, this is a great shot to look at as it shows that Optimus is one great leader. Then as soon as the transformation SFX starts the song ‘the touch by Stan bush’ starts to play, this is a very good classic song…well one of my favourites and my nan is a fan of Stan bush.  The camera then focuses on Optimus as he transforms into a truck while its zooming out. The camera then goes into birds eye view and you get a good view of Optimus driving across a dam which the camera is looking towards. The camera then flips so Optimus is now driving away from the camera and the Decepticon’s are now in the camera zone.

The camera focuses on Megatron running with the other Decepticons as Optimus is chasing them. The camera follow’s Optimus as he rams each of the Decepticons in his lorry mode, flinging the bad bot’s all over the road as smoke and flame’s bellow in front of them from a nearby crash site. The camera the follows Optimus as he transforms back into a robot and jumping into the air and over an enemy and blasting him with a blaster. When Optimus lands on his feet the camera then switches to a 3rdperson view of Optimus blasting all of the Decepticons until they’re all on the floor. Optimus then catches up with Megatron, at this point the camera is focusing one character at a time. The song continues but the volume is lowered so you can hear Optimus and Megatron speak.

The camera the follows Megatron as he tackles Optimus to the ground, the electricity affect that  surrounds them both is a good way to show that they took damage from the fall. The camera then switches to another autobot called hot-rod which is showing the back of him looking up towards where Optimus and Megatron are fighting. The camera then switches back to the fight where Megatron is being thrown at a wall, there are crashing noises and to show more of an impact the camera shakes which I think it makes the scene feel more real. Then Optimus uppercuts Megatron with a sound affect which sounds like a knockout they use in cartoons for dramatic affect. Another good part is when Megatron is asking for mercy and as he lift his hand up the animators make his fingers smaller and bigger by an inch to add a twitching affect, the music then changes to a intense tune as something bad is about to happen. The background of the scene has mountains that looked like it was painted in real life, this is making the scene look more colourful. When the camera gets a close up of Optimus or Megatron there are more detail on their face to show that they have just been in a fight and that they’re both damaged.
