What was the project?
The project was to make a short film which should be between 5 – 10 mins, unfortunately I didn’t reach that mark. The project was supposed to be directer independently but have help from another peer from the class. It is focused on how you directed the film and not so much about editing.
How did I develop my ideas?
The film was NOT made the way i wanted it to go, The film did however have a story line (at the start at least) and it kinda got wacky, I wanted it to be family friendly but it totally did not happen, the film was at least a action and comedy…it had more comedy than what I had planned. I knew I was screwed when it turns out my friend took pictures instead of recording by accident, so I had to improvise and got a 1 minute of footage but I had to make it longer so I had to do what I do best…create random stuff until it makes sense.
Research I needed to do:
I had to look up locations for where I could record my short film, special effects were also looked at to help me determine what would work well in my film. I decided to opt against the special effects in my film as I was running out of time to edit and my deadline was closing in. I took some location test shots of where I was originally going to record but didn’t end up using it. I looked up how to rotate images and make them move for the film because I didn’t know how to do this previously.
Research influence on my ideas:
I still kept the lightning concept so it fills out a plot in my film.
Software I used:
I used Adobe Premier Pro CC 2018 to edit my film and export it off.
What I found difficult:
- Recording
- Editing effects
- Putting the clips together
- Getting it in on time
What went well:
- The first part of the film
- Transitions
- The use of music
What I would do differently next time:
Make sure I have all footage and record as soon as possible so I can sort out technical problems sooner and get them out of the way and solve them to get a quick recovery on my work. Work out times when all of my crew are free so I can get as much done as possible. Use the work that I researched and put it into my work.
